RAROTONGA

Fun Stuff

TIME ZONES

The time difference between Sydney and Rarotonga is 20hours. Raro is 20hrs behind SYD, so if your flight departs Sydney at 9:30pm AEST on a Tuesday, you'll arrive in Rarotonga around 05:30am CKT on the same Tuesday morning.

CURRENCY

The official currency of the Cook Islands is the New Zealand Dollar (NZD). The Cook Islands also issues its own coins that come in funny shapes, just know you can use them on the island and once you take them out of the country, they're as good as souvenirs. These can't be exchanged overseas.

GETTING AROUND THE ISLAND

The only kind of public transport you're getting are 2 busses that go "clockwise" and "anti clockwise". There are rental services all over the island and I've listed some below where you can hire cars, vans or scooters. Your overseas drivers license is acceptable for car hire. For scooter, you'd have to get a cook islands motorcycle license from the local police station.
